Scott Lloyd
December Award
Congratulations to the latest winner of the F Jones initiative/Wrexham Lager, 2023/24 Wrexham Recognition Awards, Scott Lloyd.
Scott is the former conductor of Wrexham Brass Band and now a hard-working committee member, leader and conductor of Wrexham Concert band and manager of the Wrexham Music Co-operative, which provides all the instrumental lessons in schools. Scott set up the Concert Band in 2021 and it is now a successful band, doing its own concerts and entering the International Music Eisteddfod last year.
Scott works tirelessly to provide access to learning and skills in the musical arts and has also set up the Bellevue Community Youth Brass Band, which provides musical tuition to children across Wrexham, with free access to instruments.
The nomination for this award was for his long service conducting and leading the City of Wrexham Brass Band. Scott worked hard to ensure that the band was successful and had the necessary finances to keep running, particularly through Covid, where there was no income coming in. Had it not been for Scott’s ruthless determination and passion for brass banding, the band would have undoubtedly collapsed, as many others sadly did, during this time.
Scott is described as a musical trailblazer, his enthusiasm never wavers, and he inspires others with his incredible positivity, making everything fun and enjoyable. Scott still works very, very hard on the committees for all three bands, to ensure that there will be music within Wrexham for many years to come, enjoyed by future generations.
Well done Scott!
