Jack Moulton

Year 6 teacher, Jack Moulton was looking at a way he could inspire his pupils and at the start of 2022 he created his own podcast, Talks with a Teacher.
Jack discusses early years and school lives with his guests and the podcast features questions written by his year 6 pupils. Jack tells us that it’s always interesting to see what they would like to know about people! Here is Jack’s story.
‘I am a big advocate of children being able to follow their dreams, regardless of their academic ability. Obviously as a teacher, I highly value education, but I also recognise those that are less academic are just as worthy of having high aspirations. Setting up the podcast, I would try to speak to people and get their own first-hand accounts of school experiences. Some guests have said they may not be suitable, as they weren’t brilliant in school, but that is exactly the point! 
I have had guests who were A* students and some who have no qualifications at all and that’s the beauty of it, we’re all different’.
Jack’s guests have included Inez Carrasquillo, crowned the 3rd strongest woman in the world in 2022, who found school difficult due to her autism, eventually becoming homeless and a single mother at a young age. She turned her life around and her dedication has seen her compete at Giants Live and the Arnold Strongman Classic.
Other guests have included Paralympic gold medallist Danielle Brown MBE, Dorking Wanderers manager Mark White and actor, writer and Executive Director of Wrexham AFC, Humphrey Ker, Aron Aby, Helen Ward and many more. All great examples of how you can carve your own path in life.
His many guests have taught the children many things, for instance how you cannot let disability, adversity, or disadvantages, get in the way, as it does not define a person. Speaking with guests from a multitude of backgrounds has shown his pupils that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it, regardless or your beginnings or exam results.
Jack has been planning Season 3 of the podcast and has been busy putting it all together. His first guest is Desiree Burch, an American comedian, born in California, now living in London, who has led an interesting life, Jack tells us the children have lined up some great questions for her.
