Caroline Platt

Caroline is the Managing Director of Platts Agriculture, Director on the Board of the Federation of Small Businesses, highly commended Director of Sustainability for Wales 2023, and Chair of the Wrexham Leadership Alliance and an active fundraiser for a number of charities including Faith in Families, The Hospice of the Good Shepherd and The Joshua Tree and supports many other good causes.
In August 2023 Caroline took part in a sponsored pantomime horse race at Chester Racecourse, running half a furlong as the front end of the horse, raising money for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
Caroline also takes part in Dragon Boat racing for the Chamber of Commerce and the Farndon Soap Box Challenge, again raising money for the Hospice of The Good Shepherd.
Her two most challenging fundraisers have been firstly The Jordan Trek, which she undertook with her daughter Claudia in November 2023, walking 100k in five days, which included climbing the highest mountain in Jordan, Jabal Umm ad Dami, three times the height of Snowdon, with no mobile or satellite signal, totally cut off, with their lives in the hands of their guide. In the baking heat of the Wadi Rum desert, fundraising for the Faith in Families charity.
Caroline says ‘I want to give back where I can, by helping others. Thousands of children sadly live in deep poverty, where their lives are characterised by chaos and trauma, who are cold and hungry and forced to be grateful recipients of food banks and warm hubs. So, I am going to challenge myself and put myself out of my comfort zone. The Faith in Families charity is making a difference to the childhoods of hundreds of children’.
Caroline tells us ‘I want to help towards a child reaching their full potential, whilst feeling safe and valued.’
Her next challenge was very much a personal and emotional challenge for Caroline, in support of Nerys, her dearest friend and work colleague. Nerys’s son, Fynle, now aged 12, was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma brain tumour in May 2019, when he was just 7 years old. The Joshua Tree charity was there at a time in need and provided immense support.
The Artic Trek that both Caroline and Nerys undertook was an extraordinary challenge, pushing them to their limits, both physically and mentally. They pulled their own packs on slays, sleeping in tiny tents, travelling 60K over three days. Going to bed, it was -90.5 degrees, during the night their breathe would freeze and fall as ice. It was a true test of resilience and determination. Caroline persevered knowing it would make a difference in the lives of those supported by The Joshua Tree, herself raising 10k.
Caroline’s latest challenges were fundraising for Nightingale House Hospice, by taking part in their Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser in October last year. Off roading on her motorbike from Dubai to Muscat in Oman and taking part in the 148 walking challenge, walking 14.8 hours at a surprise location.
Inspiring her employees to follow in her footsteps Caroline has implemented a policy at Platts Agriculture that every employee gets a day off per year to support a charity.
Nerys was also given paid leave to train every Friday, walking 18 miles in preparation for their Artic Trek.
