Boxes of Sunshine

Boxes of Sunshine

Boxes of Sunshine was set up in 2022 by Kev and Lynsey Hill, in memory of their daughter Kirsten, who sadly passed away in November 2021 aged 14, after a short and sudden battle with Leukemia. For the two years before her death, Kirsten had suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, unrelated to the Leukemia). We set up the charity to hopefully give a little sunshine to the lives of other young people living with chronic illnesses or lasting health conditions.
A Box of Sunshine is a postal box containing 11 small gifts that we think a young person with a chronic illness will appreciate or find useful. All items are inspired by Kirsten. They include lip balm, bubble bath, a card game, fluffy socks, bird seed (to feed the birds), sunflower seeds to grow their own sunflowers, one of Kirsten's favourite tutti-frutti lollies, and more.
Our target age group is 11-16 years, but we will consider nominations for young people as young as 9 and as old as 19. We send boxes anywhere in the UK and have sent out over 430 boxes to date. Anyone can nominate a young person who fits the criteria by completing the simple form on our website. In addition, anyone can sponsor a Box of Sunshine for just £20, again by filling in a simple form on our website and making their £20 donation. Our website is www.boxesofsunshine.co.uk and you can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram @boxesofsunshine.co.uk
