October 2024 Award

Richard decided to set up the ‘Walk and Talk’ group, in January 2024.

It started on a Sunday with two people and now has around 25 people.

Anyone feeling ‘down in the dumps’ or just wants to get fit can come and join at Bradley Cricket Club.

‘Fresh air, walks and chats, breaking the silence and talking’.
Richard has been supporting people with alcohol addiction, PTSD, people suffering due to unemployment and bereavement.

They have teamed up with Gwersyllt barbers and there is a free hair cut for anyone suffering or lonely, with Richard has personally covered the costs for.

The walk starts in Gwersyllt, every Sunday, there is a raffle, local businesses have gotten involved, The Lemon Tree have donated food and Levant desserts.

The group has also organised free kick boxing sessions at Barrys Gym.

Twenty-four people climbed Snowdon this year, friendships are being formed and the group is making a huge difference to people’s lives.

Richard is going to use the prize money from this award to create a Christmas Toy Chest and anyone struggling to buy their children presents for Christmas can get in touch. There will be a collection point over two days in December from Gwersyllt Barbers Shop.
