September Award

Wrexham Feast ‘food frenzy festival’, event manager, Samantha Harris, is the latest winner of a 2023/24 Wrexham Recognition Award, here’s why.

@wrexhamfeast started in March 2020 about two weeks before the Covid lockdown. Samantha had been working in events for over 20 years, travelling up and down the country and had been noticing that she was having to travel further away from home to attend large events, with less happening in the local community. After discussing options with the team, they decided to organise these events themselves.

A plan was put in place to ensure the events had longevity, were affordable, accessible to the local community and supported small businesses, with 100% of all event profits being reinvested back into the events.

Wrexham Feast is the lead event, with a Demo kitchen, where local talented chefs and producers showcase their work and a cookery school providing FREE lessons to Families to support cooking together with children. All to a musical background, where a free stage is provided to Calon FM, showcasing grass roots artists. There are FREE activities for families and a whole host of local small businesses trading their wares. Last year saw over eight thousand people visit the event, with ten thousand expected at this year’s event.

The income generated from Wrexham Feast goes on to next year’s event, whilst also creating a new community event each year. Each event is different and brings something special to the local area. These community events include Chirk Carnival, Wrexham Artisan Market and Wrexham Christmas Market and Winter Festival.

The events have supported over 250 small businesses since 2021, helping to put Wrexham on the map as a destination for all the family.

Dates to put in your diary are the 23rd and 24th of September 2023, when Wrexham Feast returns to Wrexham!

Well done to Samantha for helping to bring these opportunities for small businesses to Wrexham.
